Origin story

People often ask me how I got into the trade. I’m sure there is a more cosmic explanation, but to put it simply: I found a bag of leather scraps at my former residence and figured I should probably do something with them! Undoubtedly, it was purchased by my old roommate Sam on one of our (many) thrift store excursions and had long since been forgotten in the depths of a storage closet. But its recovery was inevitable and thus, my newfangled desire to create was forever intertwined with leatherwork. I had dabbled in various media (painting, woodworking, sculpting, drawing) but nothing really clicked with me until I started working with those scraps. Everything about the craft was intoxicating; the rich smells, the diversity of materials, the complexity of construction, the endless void of possibility. And to this day, 7 years later, I still feel the same way. The allure has yet to fade. Each day in the studio brings the promise of new ideas and new inspiration.
